La Tourterelle à Ailes Blanches (Zenaida asiatica), nouvelle espèce nicheuse en Guadeloupe

Résumé: La Tourterelle à Ailes Blanches (Zenaida asiatica) est une espèce en pleine expansion. Elle a été observée pour la première fois en Guadeloupe en juillet 2005. Depuis, l’observation croissante et régulière de l’espèce, dont des individus isolés, laissait penser qu’elle pouvait nicher dans l’île. La preuve a été apportée en juin 2011 par l’observation d’un juvénile récemment sorti du nid.

Abstract: The White-winged Dove (Zenaida asiatica), a new species breeding in Guadeloupe- The White-winged Dove (Zenaida asiatica) is a species expanding its range. It was observed for the first time in Guadeloupe in July 2005. Since then, increasing and regular observations of the species, including isolated individuals, provide evidence that nesting may occur on the island. Evidence was provided in June 2011 by the observation of a recently fledged juvenile.

Resumen: La Paloma Aliblanca (Zenaida asiática), una nueva especie nidificante en Guadalupe- La Paloma Aliblanca (Zenaida asiatica) es una especie que está expandiendo su rango de distribución. Se observó por primera vez en Guadalupe en julio de 2005. Desde entonces, el incremento y la regularidad de observaciones, incluyendo individuos aislados, brindan evidencia de que la reproducción podría ocurrir en la isla. Se obtuvo evidencia en junio de 2011 con la observación de un juvenil recientemente emplumado.
