Abstract: The world’s smallest bird, the Bee Hummingbird (Mellisuga helenae), has an irregular distribution throughout Cuba. On 31 January 1999, we observed an adult male in the Nipe plateau of eastern Cuba. This new sighting in a forestry, mining, and coffee-growing zone underscores the importance of habitat knowledge and conservation.
