First record of Great-Tailed Grackle (<em>Quiscalus mexicanus</em>) breeding in the West Indies

Abstract: The Great-tailed Grackle (Quiscalus mexicanus) has been recorded as a vagrant several times in the West Indies, including the Dominican Republic in December 2007. Here we provide evidence that the species bred in the country in 2011, based on two juveniles associating closely with two adults.

Resumen: Primer registro de cría de Quiscalus mexicanus en el Caribe Insular- La especie Quiscalus mexicanus ha sido registrada como vagrante en muchas ocasiones en el Caribe Insular, incluyendo la República Dominicana en diciembre de 2007. Aquí proporcionamos evidencia de que esta especie crio en el país en 2011, basada en dos juveniles asociados estrechamente con dos adultos.

Résumé: Première mention de la nidification du Quiscale à longue queue (Quiscalus mexicanus) dans les Antilles- Le Quiscale à longue queue (Quiscalus mexicanus) a été mentionné comme espèce erratique à plusieurs reprises dans les Antilles, notamment en République dominicaine en décembre 2007. Nous faisons état de la reproduction de l’espèce dans le pays en 2011, compte tenu de l’observation de deux individus immaturesétroitement associés à deux individus adultes.
